Greenfield Township Water & Sewer District
The Greenfield Township Water and Sewer District (GTWSD) is organized in accordance with Chapter 6119 of the Ohio Revised Code for the purpose of supplying water and providing for the collection, treatment and disposal of wastewater. The GTWSD is governed by a five member board of trustees, with a secretary, attorney and engineer on staff.
The water distribution infrastructure consists of approximately 8 miles of water main and 90 fire hydrants. The water production infrastructure consists of a 250,000 gallon elevated water tank and a water treatment plant supplied by 2 wells.
The waste water infrastructure is consists of approximately 6 miles of gravity sewer with 100 manholes. 6 lift stations pump the sewerage through 3 miles of sewer force main into the City of Lancaster distribution and wastewater treatment plant. The flow is metered and the GTWSD is charged a monthly wastewater user fee.
The GTSWD contracts the maintenance and repair of the lift stations and water treatment plant to the Fairfield County Utilities Department. Local contractors are hired by the district as needed for all other repairs and maintenance to the system.
Customer billing is handled by the Fairfield County Utilities Department.
